Last year saw the introduction of our sparkling new theme Nu Disco. Nu Disco is Hed Kandi's perspective on the natural evolution of our beloved disco sound as it is transformed into the pioneering disco sounds of the 21st century.

Synthesizer-heavy chords, vocoders, the twang sound of talkboxes, a dash of underlying binary code and the inclusion of cherished grooves from everything that springs from the late '70s and early '80s (electronic) disco, boogie, cosmic, Balearic and Italo disco continuum come together to take us beyond the glitterball, to a high-tech futuristic universe depicted perfectly by our illustrative maestro, Jason Brooks.

The nu-found innovators of Nu Disco featuring on this year's instalment include the likes of; Simian Mobile Disco, Crazy P, Cassius, Fred Falke, A-Trak, Marina & The Diamonds and Phonat to name a few. These modern-day trailblazers craftily substitute revolving glitterballs and four-to-the-floor 70's grooves with laser-beam pings and echoey sounds of a distinct, futuristic and spacey dancefloor.

The mainstream success that Nu Disco as a genre readily enjoys today is to some degree down to huge success and reputation attained from our inaugural release last year. We look forward to launching the New Year with the future sound of disco as we transform all our global dancefloors from wintery Christmas wonderlands into steel-and-microchip jungles.

The time has come for you to switch your two turntables and microphone for DVJ's and a vocoder.
